Business House Bowls 2024

We are back to business at St Heliers Bowling Club this summer!

Business House is an annual tournament for social bowlers to enjoy lawn bowls in friendly competition.  Held over six weeks during the summer months, Social Bowls3Five is a great opportunity for you to get a group of friends or colleagues together for some fun and friendly competition in the beautiful surroundings of St Heliers Bowling Club.

NOTE: We know that your team may need to field substitutes AND THAT IS FINE - it can be difficult for some with family and work commitments to say 'Yes! Sign me up!" for the 6 week series. So prep some mates to be avaiable (or we can help) and come along as spectators to add to the fun.

  • From 5pm for 6pm start
  • Teams of 3- Lead, Second and Skip with substitutions permitted (we know it's hard for everyone to commit to 6 weeks).
  • No more than one full club member per team. That player cannot Skip (go last) and teams are welcome to all stay at the mat end (not sending Skips ahead).
  • Matching uniforms encouraged!
  • Bowls can be supplied by the club or own bowls may be used.
  • Weekly prizes and Championship prizes

Format

Triples (3 players)  played over four ends.  Each player plays two bowls per end. If each team wins one set or if both sets are drawn, a tie breaker is played to determine the winner of the game.  Teams have the opportunity to one "Powerplay" per game that provides the team with double points should they win the Powerplay end. The winners each week, and overall will be determined on a points basis.

Who Should Play?

This tournament  is ideal for groups of friends, work colleagues, families or for those people looking to get into the sport but has limited time due to work, family or other sporting commitments.  The beauty of lawn bowls is that anyone can play regardless of age gender or ability and as such the competition is open to teams of all males/females or mixed.   While previous experience of bowls would be an advantage to your team the tournament is open to beginners with little of no experience.  Our friendly members will be on hand to offer advice and give you some pointers.

How much does it cost?

The cost of playing is $150 per team of three.
